| Unshackled has been singing and playing Traditional Bluegrass Gospel music since 2002. They are based out of Washington, North Carolina. The group was formed as a result of local talents coming together on Saturday nights to play and sing at the home of Jimmy Chandler, of Chocowinity. Rev. Bobby L. Chandler, an original member was instrumental in forming the group. He gave the group a clear reason for it's foundation, which is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through music. In September of 2006 "Mr. Bobby" went home to be with his Lord. Because of his love for music and sharing the gospel; it is our desire to continue this work. Only one of the group's original members remain. Unshackled has played and sang at benefits, festivals, The Grand Ole Gospel, The Gospel Chicken House, Riverside Campground, R. A. Fountain General Store, Music In The Streets, The Trent River Coffee Company, The Rex Theater, The Downtown Cinema,The Turnage Theatre, The Star Theatre,The Patrick County Music Association and the Eastern North Carolina Bluegrass Association. The group has also been invited to many churches through out central and eastern North Carolina, live radio shows and special invitations to play and sing in Virginia. The group has been blessed with many original songs: written by it's members, family and friends. One of these songs, "Lift the Chains", written by Ernest Chandler is where the group derived it's name: "Unshackled" "We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and faithful support as the doors of opportunity open to share the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ." In Memory of Rev. Bobby L. Chandler And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. John 8:32 |
